Politique d’intégration territoriale et ancienne frontière interallemande

Abstract : In the scope of the enlarging of the European Union to the central and eastern countries, the German unification offers both an original and a common way of opening the borders as well as of territorial integration. The area of the former East-West German border in particular constitutes a privileged observatory of the conditions of the introduction of policies of territorial integration in the countries of the former socialist bloc. These areas in the centre of the unified Germany actually constitute the “ front line ” of the transfer to the former East Germany of the model of socioeconomical development and country planning of the GFR. It seems, however, that this territorial dynamic results in a selective integration and that in the local societies there is a political intention underlying spatial practices inherited from the time of the partition.
